In a follow-up to Tuesday's mass shooting, Baltimore County Police's Eastern Patrol Division Community Action Team, during a targeted operation, conducted a traffic stop last Thursday near Meteor Court and Cloister Road, leading to the recovery of a stolen vehicle, a loaded AK-47 rifle, an extra AK-47 magazine loaded with 7.62 ammunition, and a "Glock switch," capable of converting a semi-automatic gun into an automatic weapon.
According to the Baltimore County Police Department, the traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Jaquan McCain, 20, who is now being detained at the Baltimore County Detention Center without bail, facing serious weapons charges, including being a minor in possession of a firearm and possession of an assault weapon, following a new Maryland law enacted in October 2024 that strictly prohibits the transportation, possession and sale of rapid-fire activators which could now be prosecuted at the state level, an effort championed by Police Chief Robert O. McCullough along with other local leaders and lawmakers.
As investigators continue their search for additional suspects from last Tuesday's shooting, there is a call for public assistance: anyone with knowledge about the events can reach out to the Department at 410-887-4636, with assurances of confidentiality and perhaps even a monetary reward up to $2,000 for information that significantly aids the case as stated by the Metropolitan Crime Stoppers, who can also be reached at 1-866-756-2587, or online submissions can be made through the Baltimore County Police Department's iWATCH program.
