Baltimore County Police have taken a father into custody following a tragic Christmas Eve shooting that resulted in the death of his 4-year-old son, Jacobi Jones, and left two other family members injured. According to WBAL-TV, the suspect, 30-year-old Mark Jones, now faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder.

Officers were dispatched to the unit block of Breslin Court in Rosedale at about 6:35 a.m. last Tuesday in response to calls about the shooting. There, they found a wounded woman and two juveniles with gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. Four-year-old Jacobi was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, as reported by FOX Baltimore. The circumstances that initiated the fatal confrontation remain undisclosed.

As relayed by the boy's mother, Promyss Marcelle, the incident stems from a domestic versus that had reportedly marred the household. In an interview, Marcelle recounted her prior call to the police due to a premonition of impending danger, wherein she felt her concerns were dismissed. "I called police earlier, a few hours before the incident, because I had a bad feeling. They told me basically because his name was not on a piece of mail, there was nothing they could do," Marcelle stated as per WBAL-TV.

In the aftermath of the loss, Marcelle shares her son's memory and advocates for awareness about domestic violence. "My son was amazing. My son loved dinosaurs. He could tell you about any dinosaur in the world," she reminisced. She hopes her story can prompt other victims to seek safety. "If it happened before, it will happen again. It is not worth it" Marcelle stated, emphasizing the pivotal importance of escaping abusive relationships. A GoFundMe account has since been set up to assist with Jacobi's funeral expenses, as detailed by WBAL-TV.

Mark Jones is reportedly being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
