Last Friday, an unsettling event occurred in the city’s Southeast District. According to a social media post by the Baltimore Police, patrol officers responded to the scene of a carjacking only to find themselves in a chase that would end with the arrest of two young teens. The report states that the victims, a 39-year-old male and a 45-year-old female, were approached by what appeared to be a group of six black males, some brandishing firearms, who demanded the car keys before making their escape.

The crime, unfortunately, is yet another in a string of violent incidents that continue to plague the city, stirring concerns among the community about youth involvement in such serious crimes. The police detailed that the suspect's vehicle was spotted and pursued at around 2:12 a.m., resulting in a foot chase on the 1000 block of North Kenwood Avenue. The effort led to the apprehension of two 14-year-old males and the recovery of a loaded handgun.

The two young suspects have since been transported to the Juvenile Justice Center for processing.
