As cold weather hit Milwaukee, Pius XI Catholic High School faced a broken boiler system on the coldest day of the season. This led to the cancellation of classes yesterday, according to WTMJ.
According to WISN, the school quickly decided to cancel classes and notified students and staff by text at 6:45 a.m. about the interruption. In their message to the community, school officials emphasized, "The safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance, and with today's frigid temperatures, it was in the best interest of all to cancel classes as we work to correct the issue."
Yesterday morning, wind chills ranged from -15 to -25 and remained below zero throughout the afternoon, as reported by FOX6 Milwaukee.
Maintenance was underway with Total Mechanical. Their trucks were seen in the school’s parking lot, but they did not provide updates on the repair progress or the cause of the boiler failure.
Pius XI High School announced that classes will resume today.
