The Board of Clark County Commissioners recently honored four community members, bestowing upon them the title of Clark County Luminaries for their contributions that have cast a warming glow on the local scene. This recognition took place at the commission meeting last Friday, according to a news release by the Clark County Ohio.
In what was certainly a high point for the New Carlisle community, residents John and Jim Bobo were named as Luminaries. The duo's dedication through the local American Legion includes planting flags for holidays and participating in civic events such as the heritage festival and a New Year’s Eve celebration — complete with a 200-pound aluminum ball that descends from 90 feet. "The whole family has been heavily involved in the community," Commissioner Lowell McGlothin praised, They’re a mainstay of New Carlisle. The Bobo name has been around for years.
Elsewhere in Clark County, Ohio, Rex Fent's work with the Punishers Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club Mad River Chapter earned him a spot among this year's honorees. As the chapter organizes ventures, including a memorial scholarship fundraiser and a Soup Kitchen Bike Night, Fent's compassion does not ride unnoticed. "Rex has a huge heart and a deep love for his community," espoused Commissioner Sasha Rittenhouse. "He surrounds himself with other caring and compassionate people who work together to serve for a greater good."
John Brown, holding the title of Regional President for Park National Bank, West Region, was also illuminated as a Luminary for his robust engagement in various organizations. His contributions span vital county boards and initiatives, like the Greater Springfield Partnership, and efforts supporting youth development. "John sees the big picture and has invested in this community from the moment he moved here," noted Commissioner Flax Wilt, "He connects people around grand challenges and takes a strategic, intentional approach to problem solving." According to the Clark County, Ohio.
Each individual's work echoes the Commission's sentiment that greatness in the community doesn't necessitate grand titles but is found in tireless service and a commitment to civic improvement. Melanie Flax Wilt, among the honoring commissioners, said through Clark County, Ohio, "You don't need a big title or power to do something great."
