The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum is ready to set the holiday season aglow with its annual Festival of Lights Family Fun Day. This Saturday, December 7, the museum is inviting families to revel in holiday cheer from 2 to 6 p.m., right before the downtown parade commences. According to the City of Colorado Springs, the event will feature an array of performances, hands-on activities, and crafts to engage visitors of all ages.
Among the scheduled attractions, guests can anticipate a 50% of the Story Artist Demonstration by Vashti Mims and an opportunity to dig into the past with Awesome Archaeology hosted by City of Colorado Springs Archaeologist Mark Cervantes. The Union Printers Home will present the history of the printing trade with an interactive typesetting activity. For younger attendees, the Bear Creek Nature Center's puppet show, and Professor Higgins’ magic show are sure to spellbind, while the Snow Sisters’ Holiday Celebration offers both a performance and a chance to meet holiday characters.
As daylight fades and the festive evening rolls in, warm hot chocolate and freshly baked cookies will be served to the public outside the museum's entrance at 6:00 p.m. It's a moment for families to gather, sip, and reflect on the joyous activities of the day, a pleasant prelude to the parade that awaits them on the crisp Colorado night.
To set the stage for the festivities, the CSPM has announced a brief closure to the general public at 1:00 p.m. on the day of the event and will reopen an hour later when the Festival of Lights Family Fun Day officially begins. This temporary pause is a small price for the preparation of what is expected to be an illuminating celebration of community and holiday mirth.
