Columbus authorities have taken a 39-year-old man into custody on charges related to a recent homicide in the south side of the city, as confirmed by the Columbus Division of Police. The suspect, identified as Haikiem Graham, stands accused in the fatal shooting of Darrell Hambrick, 45, which occurred on December 10 in the 700 block of East Moler Street.
According to NBC4i, Graham was taken into custody by a SWAT team without incident yesterday. They also reported that Hambrick, who was discovered with gunshot wounds at approximately 1:30 p.m. last Tuesday, later died at a hospital last Wednesday after being pronounced dead at 3:26 p.m. Hambrick was found in the Vassor Village neighborhood, having been shot just before the police arrived in response to the incident.
An arraignment is set for Graham in the Franklin County Municipal Court, where he is scheduled to appear on Monday at 9 a.m., as mentioned in the arrest report. Adding to this, WBNS stated that the shooting was said to have taken place in a yard near Frebis Avenue, which prompted the police response that led to the victim being rushed to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.
Further details from the investigation revealed by FOX28 Columbus indicate that Graham reportedly confronted Hambrick and had an unidentified associate shoot him, as per court documents. While Graham has been charged with murder, on the scene of the incident, Hambrick was able to tell officers who shot him, which led to the authorities issuing a warrant for Graham's arrest and his subsequent capture.
Columbus police urge the public to come forward with any additional information on Hambrick's death and surrounding events. Informants are encouraged to contact the police at 614-645-4730. Alternatively, Central Ohio Crime Stoppers can be reached at 614-461-8477 for those wishing to remain anonymous.
