A Columbus man, identified as Larry J. Williams, Jr. or "J Streets," has been found guilty by a federal jury on an array of charges, including the murder of three individuals linked to a narcotics conspiracy, said the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Ohio in an announcement. The conviction, which includes counts of drug trafficking, robbery, and the gruesome direction to dismember and bury two victims to hide his criminal tracks, follows a three-week trial overseen by U.S. District Judge Michael H. Watson.
During the trial, evidence brought forth detailed how Williams led a conspiracy to rob a local marijuana dealer in 201,8, resulting in a fatal shooting at the drug premises located at 847 E.N. Broadway, Columbus. The spiral of violence continued with Williams subsequently murdering two others who knew about the initial crime, enabling him to perpetuate his grip on the local drug trade and, at the same time, curtail potential leaks to law enforcement. Further implicating Williams was his role in cleaning the crime scenes and using a residence at 121 Stevens Ave. as a base for selling an assortment of drugs ranging from fentanyl to cocaine. Tragic testimony revealed users had overdosed on the premises and needed revival through Narcan.
Heightening the gravity of the case, Special Agent in Charge Angie M. Salazar remarked, “We hope this verdict brings closure to the victims’ families and serves as a significant step towards justice for our Ohio communities,” according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Ohio, her words underscore both the personal and community impact of Williams' crimes. Salazar also acknowledged the relentless five-year investigation efforts by HSI Agents and local law enforcement that culminated with today's verdict reflecting a communal vow to safety and the rule of law.
Williams faces life imprisonment as mandated by federal law. His fate now rests in the court's discretion, with Sentencing set for a future date to consider advisory guidelines. All 13 defendants charged in connection with the case are part of a broader pursuit of justice that local agencies hope will deter such violent drug enterprises in the future, on the chilling fact that Williams was overtly unfazed by the sanctity of life, orchestrating murders to secure his drug turf without remorse.
