Dallas is calling all creatives—painters, sculptors, digital wizards, you name it. The City of Dallas Office of Arts & Culture has tossed the metaphorical canvas for artists with its latest swath of public art opportunities. One highlight is the Forest Green Branch Library art project, with submissions closing by January 30, 2025. If you've been itching to create something that makes Oak Lawn's entrance pop with color and cultural pride, you've got until January 31, 2025, to submit your proposal for the library's new mural. "To display a colorful, welcoming and vibrant entrance to the library as well as promote the community of Oaklawn and highlight the local history and culture of this diverse neighborhood," reads a portion of the project's artistic objectives, as reported by the City of Dallas.
Not to be outdone, DFW Airport's modernization program is reaching out to the art world internationally, seeking pieces that will transform the post-security trudge into an immersive aesthetic experience. Artists have until January 13, 2025, to submit their ideas for artwork to be suspended in a so-called "exit canyon," creating an innovative space for travelers to transcend the usual doldrums of travel. Similarly, art for the concourse area is up for grabs, ready to redefine the airport ambiance.
The Dallas Museum of Art is also involved in the action. Its Center for Creative Connections Feature Artist Program is eager for North Texas artists to step forward with installations that 'respond to the concept of rhythm—how it is both an audible and visual element in numerous types of art.' Do you have a take on rhythm that can shake up both ears and eyes? Then apply by January 10, 2025. According to official guidelines, Chosen works will be featured in the C3 Gallery during the fall or winter season of 2025.
