According to a news release on Denvergov.org, most city services, including the Mayor’s Office, City Council offices, and Clerk and Recorder’s Office will observe the holiday break on Wednesday, December 25th. However, it's not a total shutdown, essential services such as emergency responders and operations at Denver International Airport will continue without interruption, as reported by the City and County of Denver.
For residents with non-emergency city-related queries, the 3-1-1 information line will be taking a breather too, but digital services such as the Denvergov.org's "Report an Issue" tool and the chatbot "Sunny" are available even when live operators are off-duty. As for those finding themselves in need of animal services on Christmas day, the night drop kennels at the Denver Animal Shelter will stay accessible, and Animal Protection Officers can be reached through 911 in case of emergencies.
The Denver County Court along with state-operated courts, including Denver District Court, will also join the holiday closure. Yet, the city's plethora of online services remain functioning, offering an alternative for those needing to process things like vehicle renewals, and license applications, or to look over their tax documents. Parking, a frequent pain point for residents, becomes a tad less bothersome with free meters on the 25th even though they should be mindful of posted time restrictions.
While offices are closed, some Denver Human Services teams will remain vigilant, ready to respond to urgent child and adult protection cases. Residents can report suspected cases of abuse through the county's telephone hotlines. As citizens navigate the yuletide landscape, Denver's Department of Transportation & Infrastructure encourages folks to utilize its online permitting services, as its permit counters will be closed during the holiday.
Finally, those with ambitions to jump into a new job over the holidays will need to pause, as the Workforce Centers will not open until after the Christmas break. Job seekers are invited to explore opportunities and resources available online on the city's job portal. With wrapped presents and city lights aglow, Denver ensures that despite the closures, crucial services and digital support remain just a click away for its inhabitants.
