Travelers heading to Denver International Airport (DIA) will need to adjust their plans, as the airport's A-Bridge security checkpoint is now officially closed to the public. The closure, which took effect Sunday night, is part of an overall effort to streamline airport security and construction processes, according to CBS News. The bridge checkpoint has been a familiar part of the airport's structure and its shutdown may affect passenger flow in the short term.

While the equipment at the former bridge checkpoint will remain in place for potential urgent needs, it will not be operational during normal hours, which implies a strategic decision by airport officials not to staff these lanes. Passengers are encouraged to use alternate checkpoints, particularly the west security point, where new computed tomography technology is expected to expedite the screening process, as reported by 9NEWS. Overnight construction hours, which run from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m., Monday through Thursday will also limit the availability of the A-Bridge for crossing between Concourse A and the main terminal.

As the holiday travel season looms, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has been proactive in managing the expected increase in traveler numbers. "New technology at the West Security Checkpoint is designed to increase the overall efficiency of the security process," a TSA spokesperson stated, as obtained by Denver7. This new technology allows passengers to keep liquids and electronic devices in their carry-on luggage, simplifying the screening process.
