A road rage incident in Detroit on Thursday afternoon turned violent when a man was shot in the head and left in critical condition. The shooting happened on Joy Road near Schaefer Highway. Police believe the altercation started in the street before escalating to violence.
A witness said, "I just seen a body on the ground, that's all," and described the scene as "just screaming and yelling." The 30-year-old suspect turned himself in, and by 6 p.m., Detroit Police confirmed he was in custody. The victim was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. The cause of the incident is still being investigated, with road rage considered as a possible motive, as stated by FOX 2 Detroit and Audacy.
Marcos Dubon, who was working nearby, heard a gunshot and then found the victim’s body in the street. "In the moment this happened, I was working and I just heard one shot," he said. A gun was found near the victim’s vehicle, and police collected evidence. A bystander, who was a nurse, tried to help the victim. "There was another guy holding his hand, took off his shirt, he was a nurse," said witness Ahmad Aoun. "Because it was cold out, he threw the stuff on there for him and he was trying to keep him warm because the guy was shaking on the floor... I hope he’s still alive doing well." The victim’s condition is unknown, according to WXYZ.
