Looking to jet off to the Windy City from the Rocky Mountains? Starting June 5, 2025, that trip will get a little easier as American Airlines brings back its nonstop service from Colorado Springs Airport (COS) to Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD). This development was announced by the COS which noted that the much-missed connection, absent since the COVID-19 pandemic, will be reinstated, and eager travelers can already secure their tickets, as reported by Colorado Springs.
Emphasizing the impact of this restoration on the local travel landscape, COS' Director of Aviation, Greg Phillips, expressed, "American Airlines continues to be an amazing partner, and we could not be happier to welcome back such crucial service to our community." He sees the return of flights to ORD as a dual victory for both the airport and the city itself. Adding to an already established lineup, the Chicago route complements America's ongoing nonstop flights from COS to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).
Aside from simplifying travel to Chicago, this move by American Airlines is expected to improve connectivity for both business and leisure travelers. Easing the journey into one of the nation's most bustling metropolises, the service gears up to offer daily flights using dual-class regional jets. According to Colorado Springs, this connectivity will enable smoother trips filled with greater convenience.
Jordan Pack, American’s Director of Domestic Network Planning, commented, "American is pleased to offer nonstop service from Colorado Springs to our Chicago O’Hare hub." In alignment, with the existing service to DFW, "this new service will offer customers convenient connections and shorter travel times on American to cities across the Midwest, Northeast, and abroad to destinations in Europe including Barcelona and Italy’s Amalfi Coast," he added, as per Colorado Springs.
