An employee dispute at an Arvada Big O Tires escalated into a shooting that left one person seriously injured yesterday afternoon, creating a scene of disrupted lives and customer inconvenience at the 7425 W 52nd Avenue location, local authorities and witnesses report. The Arvada Police Department said that an argument between two employees turned physical in the service area before one employee drew a firearm and shot the other in the torso, as reported by Denver7.
Following the altercation, the suspect fled the scene, embarking on foot until they were apprehended near their home at Kipling Street and West 72nd Avenue, a Club Crest neighborhood roughly four miles north, the Arvada Police later confirmed, adding the chase ended around 5 p.m., as detailed by The Denver Post. Meanwhile, the victim whose immediate condition update was scarce, managed to find his way to a nearby dialysis center from where he received initial help until paramedics arrived and transported him to a local hospital for further treatment.
The shooting forced a temporary closure of the Big O Tires store, impacting customers who had dropped off their vehicles for service earlier in the day, "Some customers were able to come back and get their vehicles on Thursday; others were not so lucky," according to KDVR. A customer, identified only as Kelly, expressed uncertainty over the retrieval of her vehicle after returning post-incident in a Lyft; with the day's events leaving her and others in a cloud of disrupted routines and unanswered queries.
