A late-night fire destroyed an empty former McDonald's on Milwaukee's south side near 14th and Burnham streets. Firefighters battled the blaze for over two hours, arriving around midnight to find the building fully engulfed, with flames coming through the roof. Crews had to remove fencing and cut through boards that had sealed the building, as reportes by WISN.

According to a CBS58 report, the Milwaukee Fire Department used aerial ladders to spray large amounts of water on the fire after issuing a second alarm. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and no one needed to be hospitalized. The fire was contained to the empty building, sparing the surrounding people and areas.

The Milwaukee police and fire investigation unit are working to determine the cause of the fire, but the origin remains unknown for now. Investigators are still examining the burned remains of the building. More details are expected to come out as they continue their work, according to FOX6 News.

"By the time we got here, it was fully involved," MFD Deputy Chief Travis Jones describes the scene upon arrival, "We had to remove all of the boards from the exterior of the actual structure, and by the time we got boards and things like that off, the fire obviously continued to grow", as he told FOX6 News.
