Four teenagers are now in police custody following an armed robbery that escalated into violence in Southwest Philadelphia over the weekend. According to reports from 6abc, the incident took place just before 11:30 p.m. last Saturday, targeting a pizza delivery driver on the 6700 block of Paschall Avenue.
The 37-year-old victim, while on duty delivering pizza, was confronted by the group who proceeded to steal his cash and food. In the course of the robbery, he suffered a gunshot wound to his leg. Despite his injuries, the delivery driver managed to reach a local police district station, where he was hurried to a hospital. He is expected to recover fully, as NBC Philadelphia details the events.
In a development reported by FOX29, two teens were caught shortly after the incident when officers found them with pizza boxes on the 2200 block of Bonaffon Street. The pursuit of justice did not stop there, as the other two suspects were in an abandoned house along the same block.
Further elucidating the case, an official statement obtained by NBC Philadelphia reveals that, during the chase of one suspect, officers recovered a .22 caliber rifle along the route the teen had fled. The four suspects, whose ages range between 15 to 19 years, now face multiple charges including aggravated assault, robbery, theft, and related offenses.
