The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids has launched a new exhibit, "Remembering President Jimmy Carter," to honor the late president. The exhibit, which opened on Monday, features campaign memorabilia and historical images of Carter and Ford, from their 1976 election rivalry to their post-presidential friendship. It will be open to the public until the day of Carter's interment, as stated by WOODTV.

The exhibition explores how Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford's rivalry turned into a lasting friendship. "Despite going head to head in the 1976 election, Carter and Ford grew close after their presidencies," said Mirelle Luecke, curator at the Ford Museum. The exhibit will also feature Carter’s tribute to Ford during his inauguration, where he said, "For myself and for our nation, I want to thank my predecessor for all he has done to heal our land," as reported by MLive

Visitors to the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library & Museum can sign memorial books for Jimmy Carter, which will be sent to the Carter Presidential Library in Atlanta. Carter’s state funeral will take place at the Washington National Cathedral on January 9. The museum is also hosting the exhibit "Ford at 50: Decisions That Defined a Presidency," which will run through August 9, 2025. Brooke Clement, the museum's director, said, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of President Jimmy Carter. His legacy of humanitarianism and dedication to public service is an inspiration to us all,” according to WZZM13.
