Henderson takes a leap towards becoming a recreation hub with the City Council greenlighting the proposed indoor sports and family entertainment complex in West Henderson. As announced yesterday, Whiting-Turner Contracting Company and Klai Juba Wald Architecture + Interiors bagged the project contract, paving the way for the construction of the state-of-the-art complex.
The news, following the City Council's unanimous nod in July after unveiling the project to the public in May, is expected to enrich community living in Henderson. "We are thrilled to continue providing amenities that enhance the quality of life for our residents," Henderson City Manager and CEO Richard Derrick told the City of Henderson. "The West Henderson fieldhouse is a much-anticipated addition to our community that will serve as a hub for sports and entertainment for our residents, as well as a catalyst for economic growth for our great City."
Designed as a two-level, 160,000 square-foot facility, it will sit behind Chicken N Pickle on St. Rose and Maryland Parkways and will boast a broad array of amenities. These include basketball and volleyball courts, synthetic turf fields, multipurpose event spaces, laser tag arenas, bowling lanes, and more. According to the City of Henderson, endeavored are discounts reaching 20% on programming and activities for the Henderson folks.
Finances for the $70 million venture partly stem from KemperSports—a pillar in sports and entertainment management, contributing $10 million. Steve Goris, KemperSports Senior Vice President, said in a statement made by the City of Henderson, "Their reputation for delivering exceptional design-build projects aligns perfectly with our vision for the West Henderson Fieldhouse. Together, we are creating a facility that will set a new standard for sports and entertainment in the nation." The rest is covered by bonds and city funds, and if all sails smoothly, the doors will open to the public in Fall 2026.
