The Henderson Police Department finished its "Click It or Ticket" campaign, which ran from November 10 to December 1. The campaign focused on making sure people wear seat belts. In Nevada, seat belt violations are secondary, officers can only ticket someone for not wearing a seat belt if they’re stopped for another reason, according to the City of Henderson.
During the operation, police stopped 250 motorists for various violations. Among these, five drivers were cited for not wearing seat belts, despite the 91.9% national seat belt usage rate reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in 2023. Additionally, 158 drivers were ticketed for speeding and other offenses. The operation focused on addressing dangerous driving behaviors to improve road safety, as reported by the City of Henderson.
The Henderson Police Department has received $179,000 in federal grants from the Nevada Department of Public Safety for their 2025 Joining Forces program. The funding will help improve safety on the roads, focusing on issues like pedestrian safety, distracted driving, and speeding. The "Click It or Ticket" campaign is part of this effort, along with other events aimed at reducing impaired driving and promoting seat belt use.
