Walmart is remodeling its Heights-area store at 111 Yale Street with a $2.2 million upgrade set for summer 2025. The renovation will improve the store layout and enhance its online grocery pickup and delivery services. This is part of a larger project involving 15 Walmart stores in the Houston area, as per Houston Chronicle.
Walmart is updating its stores to keep up with modern trends, including the "Store of the Future" at 8927 Fry Road in Cypress. Similar renovations will be made at Houston locations, with work happening after hours to avoid disrupting shoppers. Each store’s renovation budget ranges from $1.2 million to $4.2 million. The Walmart Supercenter in Humble, located at 6626 E. FM 1960 Road, will also get a $3 million upgrade starting in February, focusing on improvements to the pharmacy, vision center, deli, and bakery, as stated by Houston Chronicle.
Walmart's Humble store will stay open during renovations, which will take place after hours to avoid customer disruptions. The project is set to be completed by June, "according to a filing." With about 75 stores in Houston, Walmart is investing in its local presence to compete with H-E-B and Kroger, which have 109 and 100 stores, respectively. More details on the renovations are available on Walmart's website, as reported by Community Impact
