A man was convicted on third-degree murder charges for a 2020 shooting that led to the death of 21-year-old Shaquille Love in Bristol Township. Kelvontae Nasheed Perry, now age 30, was found guilty following a waiver trial presided by Common Pleas Judge Wallace H. Bateman Jr. Today – the very date marking four years since the incident.
The Bucks County official website reported that Perry was also convicted of aggravated assault, firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of an instrument of crime, possession of a weapon, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. Sentencing has been deferred for 90 days pending a pre-sentence investigation.
Prosecutors painted the scene as one mired in a violent feud between rival neighborhoods in Bristol Township, noting that Love was not directly involved but was tragically caught in the crossfire. Chief Deputy District Attorney Kristin M. McElroy stressed the innocence of the victim, asserting, "Shaquille Love paid the ultimate price for helping out a friend," as recounted in the Bucks County announcement.
The conviction sheds light on the broader issue of ongoing violence in the area, a sentiment shared by McElroy in her closing arguments: "Enough is enough. This violence in Bristol Township needs to stop," a statement obtained by Bucks County website.
