The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the community gathered this past Saturday to open the Lt. Erik Lloyd Memorial Park. Located in the southwest part of Clark County, the park is dedicated to Lt. Erik Lloyd's service, a well-respected figure in the Las Vegas community and former President of the Injured Police Officers Fund. Commissioner Justin Jones and the Clark County Department of Parks and Recreation were instrumental in bringing this project to fruition, with LVMPD celebrating the legacy of a man who gave back so much to the public.
In a social media post to mark the occasion, LVMPD captured the essence of the grand opening event. The day was packed with activities designed to bring families together and to fully enjoy to begin creating memories at the park. From face painting to balloon animals, the festive atmosphere was enhanced by live music, while pet owners appreciated the dog runs and pet-friendly vendors. For the more athletically inclined, there were even pickleball games—a fast-growing favorite among community outdoor activities.
The park offers more than just a playground, featuring a splash pad, covered picnic areas, and an interpretive natural wash that highlights nature's beauty within the city. Created as a lasting tribute to Lt. Erik Lloyd, it invites the community to gather and enjoy its facilities year-round. Located at 9665 W Patrick Lane, Las Vegas, NV, it serves as a welcoming retreat for both residents and visitors.
