Tragedy struck in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where Dayle Haddon, a renowned model and actress from Canada, died from a suspected carbon monoxide leak at a property owned by her daughter, former journalist Ryan Haddon, and son-in-law, actor Marc Blucas. According to CBS News Philadelphia, authorities were called to the home on Phillips Mill Road in Solebury Township early Friday morning after reports of a 76-year-old man found unconscious.
In addition to Haddon's tragic passing, another individual was hospitalized in the incident, which saw high levels of carbon monoxide detected within the home. NBC10 Philadelphia reports that two medics responding to the call were also treated for carbon monoxide exposure, with a police officer treated at the scene.
Haddon, who propelled to fame in the 1970s and '80s, was remembered not just for her beauty and grace in front of the camera, but also for her philanthropic work with WomenOne, a non-profit aiming to create educational opportunities for women and girls. "She was chic, elegant. She always remembered you," Sandy Linter, a makeup artist and friend of Haddon, told Action News. Haddon's daughter Ryan, in an Instagram tribute, said, "She held so many up, saw their greatness sometimes hidden to them, and always built bridges with her own connections to help them ascend. She was everyone's greatest champion."
As investigations by local authorities continue, it has been suggested that a malfunctioning heating unit was the source of the leak. Det. Sgt. Jonathan Koretzky of the Solebury Township Police Department stated, "Preliminary investigation is showing that a heating unit malfunctioned exposing a large amount of carbon monoxide within the carriage house," as stated by CBS News Philadelphia. Officials have yet to publicly identify the hospitalized man and have not confirmed whether Blucas or Ryan Haddon were home at the time of the incident.
