A Muskegon-area business president was stabbed by an employee during a staff meeting on Tuesday morning at Anderson Express, an automotive supply manufacturer in Fruitport. The suspect, Nathan Mahoney, 32, from Walker, had been with the company for just two weeks before allegedly attacking the president with a knife, according to WOODTV.
Fruitport Township Police are looking into Mahoney's background after a stabbing incident. They haven't ruled out a copycat motive, with Deputy Chief Greg Poulson saying, "We haven't ruled out copycat motive in regards to this." Authorities are checking social media and video footage for more information. Mahoney fled the scene but was arrested soon after. He faces charges of assault with intent to commit murder and was arraigned on Wednesday, as reported by WOODTV.
The president of Anderson Express, whose name has not been released, had surgery after an assault at the company’s plant. "We remain in shock over the incident that happened at our plant yesterday. Our first thought is with our president, who has a good prognosis for a full and speedy recovery," said company spokesperson Mary Ann Sabo. The company is supporting its employees, and the police are still investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fruitport Township Police or Silent Observer, as stated by WZZM13 and Mid Michigan Now.
