Nevadans now have easier access to vehicle registration with the state's new online system, Rapid Registration. Previously available at only certain locations, it is now open to all residents, making the process faster and more convenient, as reported by 8 News Now.
Since its initial launch in a few offices like Sahara and Elko on August 12, the Rapid Registration program has expanded to Department of Motor Vehicles in Carson City and Reno. According to 8 News Now, "more than 23,000 DriveNV portal accounts have been created, and over 4,000 vehicle registrations have been successfully processed." The service is currently available to new Nevada residents and those who have purchased vehicles from out-of-state dealers, private sellers, or received them as gifts. However, customers still need to visit a Department of Motor Vehicles office in person to complete payment and collect their license plates and registration. Future updates to the system aim to eliminate the need for in-person visits.
Department of Motor Vehicles Director Tonya Laney expressed her enthusiasm about the system, stating, "The many transactions that have already been completed in a just a few short months shows how much our customers want DMV services to be moved online." In January, the Department of Motor Vehicles will introduce a new online service for processing vehicle titles. More details on the Rapid Registration system are available on the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles website, as stated by Audacy.
