Yesterday, Wyoming witnessed a distressing scene when a fire erupted at the Wyoming Public Schools Bus Garage. According to a report by WOODTV, the fire was first reported around 10 a.m., and subsequent footage revealed flames and smoke billowing from the maintenance building at 2181 Prairie Pkwy. Neighbors were alarmed by the sight, with one resident, Hazel Holloway, recounting explosions which they later assumed "were probably tires." Wyoming's Fire Inspector Brad Dornbos confirmed to reporters that the scene was eventually controlled, and crews expected to remain on-site for several hours to conduct clean-up and investigation.
Despite the potential disaster, all individuals onsite remained unharmed, with two employees in the building at the blaze safely escaping and receiving treatment for minor smoke inhalation. The immediate response from Wyoming and Grandville fire departments helped quickly contain the inferno. As per MLive, Wyoming Public Schools Superintendent Craig Hoekstra reassured parents that the incident would not affect student transportation or after-school activities.
The superintendent shared gratitude for the Wyoming Police and Fire Departments, whose quick actions ensured community safety, as reported by WZZM 13. The superintendent and the public expressed relief that the incident caused no serious injuries or fatalities.
