An Oakland County man, Daniel James Kring, 35, of Holly Township, was arrested and charged with crimes related to an alleged attempt to meet what he thought was a 12-year-old girl for the purposes of sexual contact. According to ClickOnDetroit, the report says that on November 22, an online predator group from Indiana, posing as a young girl, talked to Kring on social media. During their conversation, he allegedly sent explicit images and arranged to meet up.

Holly Police Department responded to a call at a local business on Saginaw Street where a group confronted Kring. Police were given evidence by the group, which included information from Kring's phone. The evidence reportedly showed Kring's communications and alleged intent to meet with a decoy and then go to another location for sexual activity with a minor. Kring was detained for questioning, and his phone was seized.

According to the Holly Police Department on their Facebook page, Kring was arrested on serious charges, including Accosting a Minor for Immoral Purposes (a felony with up to 10 years in prison) and using a computer to commit a crime (up to 4 years in prison). He was arraigned on December 3, before Magistrate Michael Bosinc, who set his bond at $50,000. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for January 3, 2025, before Judge Kelley R. Kostin. Kring, who has no prior criminal record, is currently being held at the Oakland County Jail. A procedural court continuation is set for January 5, 2025.
