The D.C. Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium Campus Revitalization Act is now part of a larger legislative effort. In a statement, Mayor Muriel Bowser outlined plans to revitalize the 170-acre waterfront site, seeing it as a chance for new opportunities for both locals and visitors, according to the Mayor's Office.
Mayor Bowser shared that Congress has attached H.R. 4984 to the continuing resolution, which could help move the RFK Campus redevelopment forward. While it still needs to pass, the project could bring new housing, jobs, sports venues, and better public spaces. Mayor Bowser also acknowledged Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton for her ongoing efforts to support the project, as reported by the Mayor's Office.
Mayor Bowser pointed out the bipartisan support for the bill, noting the important roles of Rep. James Comer and Rep. Bruce Westerman in pushing it forward. She also mentioned the strong partnership between D.C. and Maryland. While she’s hopeful the bill will pass, the future of the RFK campus depends on political negotiations, as stated by the Mayor's Office.
