Authorities in Osceola County have apprehended a man after he allegedly fired shots outside the Kissimmee home of his unborn child's mother. The Osceola County Sheriff's Office stated that the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. yesterday on Orchid Lane. Sheriff Marcos Lopez later announced at a news briefing that the suspect, identified as 25-year-old David Gomez-Posso, had to be chased down and was arrested in Charlotte County last night following a high-speed pursuit. Deputies responded to the scene after reports that Gomez-Posso shot into the home before fleeing the area.
In an interview, as reported by ClickOrlando, Lopez shared that the incident was deeply rooted in domestic issues, stating, "If someone supposedly loves you, or he's going to be the father of your unborn child, or you're in a relationship with a significant other, and they have to put their hands on you, they have to threaten you with a firearm — there's something wrong with this guy." He also urged victims of domestic violence to reach out and seek help without delay.
Jennie Rivera, the homeowner, recounted the terrifying ordeal to ClickOrlando, describing how her husband had to quickly investigate the source of aggressive knocking before witnessing a man clad in black armed and shooting their property. Rivera and her granddaughter locked themselves in a room, fearing for their lives. Fortunately, no one was injured, although the property sustained bullet damage, including a shattered car windshield.
According to authorities, Gomez-Posso faces charges of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman. According to WESH, Lopez described Gomez-Posso as a "menace," underscoring the potential harm his actions could have wrought on the community. The sheriff's office also confirmed that Gomez-Posso's criminal history in Osceola County was minimal, though he has past arrests, not leading to conviction, in Charlotte County.
As the investigation continues, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office is expected to disclose further developments about the case and Gomez-Posso's charges.
