Philadelphia is grappling with the aftermath of a deadly shooting that erupted at a local sports bar, leaving a community searching for answers and justice. The incident occurred at Henny's Sports Bar located in the city's Allegheny West neighborhood, according to CBS News. Yesterday morning, police found three men with gunshot wounds following a call to the 2700 block of North 29th Street.
A 48-year-old man, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two victims, a 43-year-old man shot in the chest and armpit, and a 44-year-old man with injuries to his hand and knee, are both hospitalized in stable condition, "police said Sunday afternoon" as per information obtained by CBS News. Despite the violence that night, police at this time have not made any arrests, however, two firearms were found at the shooting site, casting a grim shadow over Henry's Sports Bar, a locale once filled with the much lighter echoes of camaraderie and cheers.
Details on what prompted the violence remain unclear, with law enforcement continuing their investigation into the incident. As reported by NBC Philadelphia, the shooting occurred at approximately 1:03 a.m.. Though a person was taken in for questioning in connection with the incident, their identity and involvement remain under wraps.
In an appeal for public assistance, "Police are urging anyone with any information to contact the Philadelphia Police Department," according to 6ABC. This tragedy has not only taken a life but also left two others altered by violence, the bar's space now hollowed by the reverberations of gunshots, no longer just a memory of pints and playful banter, but of a Sunday marred by gunfire.
