Residents of Fond du Lac were roused from their beds earlier today after a fire broke out on the 700 block of Martin Avenue. The blaze was reported just after 1:30 a.m., with garbage cans outside a house catching fire and the flames quickly spreading to the building's exterior, according to WBAY.

WeAreGreenBay reported that upon arrival, Fond du Lac Fire Rescue found two large garbage cans ablaze. The fire had extended to a side of the home, causing damage to the siding and utilities. Fortunately, firefighters managed to get the fire under control within five minutes, and confirmed that the interior of the home had not been affected.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. In a statement obtained by FOX 6 News, officials noted that after extinguishing the flames, crews entered the home to ensure that the fire had not spread inside, confirming that the damage was contained to the outside of the property.

Alliant Energy was called to the scene to assist with the gas and electrical services that were compromised due to the fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue, and as of now, no other details concerning the origination of the fire have been released.
