Raising Cane's, the popular fast-food chain known for its chicken fingers, is launching its annual Holiday Plush Puppy Campaign to benefit pet welfare organizations, reports News3LV. Starting last Monday, through Jan. 5, Raising Cane's will sell special plush puppies in their Las Vegas locations with all net proceeds going to the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Nevada SPCA). The limited-edition plush toy, priced at $9.99 plus tax, is inspired by a candy cane, coinciding with the holiday theme.
Founder and owner Todd Graves has stated, "Each holiday season, Raising Cane's introduces a new, special-edition Cane's Plush Puppy." According to a News3LV report, the campaign has been a "tail-wagging hit" since its inception in 2004, raising over $2 million for various pet-related charities, such as community dog parks and no-kill rescues. Raising Cane's commitment to pet welfare aligns with the brand's mascot and namesake, a friendly yellow labrador.
This year's campaign theme, "Raise a Little Cane," extends to the Dallas-Fort Worth area where, as reported by Focus Daily News, 100% of the net proceeds from in-restaurant sales of plush puppies will benefit Operation Kindness, a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare organization. Operation Kindness, which prides itself on its lifesaving care and innovative programs, is known as the largest no-kill shelter in North Texas.
For customers wishing to support the cause beyond local communities, plush puppies are available to be bought online in regular and XL sizes through Raising Cane's website. By purchasing online, patrons can contribute to pet welfare organizations on a national scale. In discussing the campaign's broader impact, Todd Graves noted the enthusiasm from customers to give back, not just in their local communities, but across the nation. As stated on the Focus Daily News, "the brand is kicking off its 2024 Holiday Plush Puppy Campaign on Monday, Nov. 25, benefiting local pet welfare organizations across the country."
The Nevada SPCA, set to receive the local proceeds, operates without any financial support from national SPCA branches, ASPCA, or government funding, entirely depending on donations to serve the needs of over 2,000 animals annually. Meanwhile, Operation Kindness' mission seeks to create a kinder world for pets and the people who love them, a vision mirrored by Raising Cane's philanthropic endeavors during the holiday season.
