The city of Raleigh is splashing some tech-enhanced color on the walls of Pullen Arts Center, courtesy of a creative partnership with Vertiprint Raleigh, who are bringing their innovative wall printing technology to the forefront of public art, their game-changing methods allow the detailed injection of UV ink onto a range of materials including the bricks that now bear a brand new mural, a first of its kind for the city, embodying both the heritage of traditional murals and the bold strides of modern printing techniques.
Designed by Jesse White, a local artist with a knack for blending natural motifs with a touch of whimsy, the new mural encapsulates the sheer essence of creativity that thrives within the studios of the Pullen Arts Center, White's hand-drawn original, now reimagined through the lenses of technology forms a digital file that breathed life onto the wall in a display of vivid imagery and a testament to the potential of such collaborations.
City of Raleigh announced the mural's completion this week, setting a yearlong display period for locals and visitors to indulge in the artistic ambiance. Jesse White, rooted in the landscapes of rural North Carolina, has his childhood encounters with the mystic Rocky River woods permeating through his artistic expression, etching a signature of nostalgia and wonder onto his public canvasses.
Onto the practicalities, Vertiprint Raleigh's brainchild, the vertical printer, scales walls like a silent artist, fluidly brushing across various materials; glass, concrete, metal, you name it, and with an environmentally friendly touch, using UV inks that pledge to stand the test of time and elements with grace, the technology is not just an artistic tool but a statement in sustainable innovation, which is available for public viewing at Pullen Arts Center, located at 105 Pullen Rd., Raleigh, NC 27607, where visitors need to secure a parking permit on weekdays, but the technicolor experience, however, won't cost a dime.
