The National Weather Service in Raleigh has kicked off the week with a fresh forecast for North Carolinians, promising a streak of sunny skies with a playful but occasional interruption of clouds and a small chance of showers on Tuesday. According to NWS Raleigh, residents can expect the day's high to hover around a pleasant 63 degrees with gentle west winds nudging temperatures a touch, while the evening promises a mild dip to around 44 degrees, under a curtain of partly cloudy sky.
Stepping into Tuesday, the weather narrative takes a slightly moody turn with a 30% chance of showers mostly between the late morning and midafternoon hours, the NWS predicts a high swing up to nearly 65 degrees fueled by south winds that could push gusts to 24 miles per hour, before the plot clears up leading into a mostly sunny New Year's Day that’s been scripted with highs around 55 degrees and persistent west winds that can spike up to 22 mph.
In a bend toward cooler temps, the latter part of the week is set to serve up clear nights and sunny days, the mercury not poised to breach much beyond the 50-degree mark from Thursday through to Saturday, before surrendering to chillier nights that are slated to see thermometers flirting with the mid-20s.
A Hazardous Weather Outlook bulletin issued early Monday morning by the NWS outlined potential weather concerns for central North Carolina, casting light fog as a possible early Tuesday adversary for visibility with no immediate demand for spotter activation, although Tuesday afternoon could come with its capricious impulses as southerly winds are expected to dash through the Piedmont with possible gusts nudging the 30 mph mark, such volatility in the atmosphere though is described as being of low probability for widespread hazard in the region.
