Central Florida is bracing for cramped terminals, hosting many college football bowl games, and maintaining its status as a top-ten global holiday destination. In fact, according to a report by WESH, the pinnacle of this bustling period is projected to be December 28, with over 192,000 passengers expected to arrive and depart on that Saturday alone, admitting the expected travelers to get to the airport three hours early for their flights, not to feel rushed through the airport's amenities.
Orlando International Airport, one of the nation's most frequented, is thus nudging travelers to factor enough wiggle room into their schedules. According to the same WESH report, MCO encourages travelers to arrive at the airport three hours before their scheduled flight to give them plenty of time to park, check baggage, go through security, and find their gate. This guidance aims to temper the otherwise hectic experience with a modicum of order and predictability.
Officials report that Orlando International Airport will be stretched to accommodate the expected 1% increase in travelers this year compared to 2023.
