The Dixieanne Neighborhood Clean & Green Alleys Project has transformed five residential alleys in North Sacramento into functional and visually appealing spaces. This project, led by the City of Sacramento's Department of Public Works with the help of local artists and residents, was recently completed and is now open for the public to enjoy, according to the City of Sacramento.
During the opening event, the community explored the alleys, now enhanced with custom paver art and creatively designed bollards, created by local artists. Fedolia "Sparky" Harris, the project manager and principal planner with the department, shared her thoughts on the project's impact: "The Dixieanne alleys are now more than just functional spaces—they’re beautiful, inviting, and reflect the spirit of this neighborhood," as stated by the City of Sacramento.
The Clean California project added new fencing, trees, paving, and stormwater features to improve the alleys and make them more sustainable. The event included a community lunch and soccer ball giveaways by District 2 Councilmember Shoun Thao. More information is available on the project website, as reported by the City of Sacramento.
