The City of Sacramento continues to address homelessness, with a recent report showing the Incident Management Team (IMT) received 731 calls through the city's 311 service from Monday to Sunday last week. The IMT successfully closed 493 of these cases within the week, according to the City of Sacramento website.
The City’s Department of Community Response continues its efforts to address homelessness by connecting individuals with essential services. The department enrolled 73 people into programs designed to match them with shelters and resources. Additionally, the Roseville Road campus and the Outreach and Engagement Center provided shelter to 37 individuals during this period.
Shelter capacity is managing to meet demand, with available spaces reported on Tuesday. The Roseville Road campus had three Pallet homes and one trailer open, while the Outreach and Engagement Center had 13 available spaces. City-funded shelters, excluding the Roseville Road campus and OEC, reported an average of 26 openings.
In addition to housing and resource matching, sanitation is a key part of the city's response to homelessness. Over the course of a week, workers removed 281,420 pounds of trash from city streets. The public can track the IMT's progress, including outreach, compliance, and cleanup efforts, on the city's data dashboard, which has archived activity since September 2023.
