During a routine patrol in Santa Rosa, Sonoma County Sheriff's deputies made a proactive stop that led to the arrest of two individuals on multiple charges, including drug possession and illegal possession of ammunition. The incident, which transpired late on Sunday in the 2600 block of Corby Avenue, involved a deputy who recognized the driver of a pickup truck as a person known to law enforcement and on probation, namely Gilberto Torres Oliveros, 34, of Healdsburg.
According to a social media post from the Sonoma Sheriff, the officer knew that Torres Oliveros violated the terms of his probation, leading to further investigation of the situation. Accompanying deputies following the initial stop conducted searches of both the vehicle and the hotel room where Torres Oliveros said he was staying with Lou Medina, 45, of Santa Rosa, who was also on felony probation.
The search yielded a concerning assortment of items: 74 rounds of .223 ammunition, approximately 13.5 grams of methamphetamine, 1.5 oxycodone pills, methamphetamine pipes, and various suspected stolen goods such as new tools, clothing, makeup, and a box of tequila. Medina, discovered in the hotel room, was charged with felony possession of ammunition, drug-related misdemeanors, and violation of probation, resulting in her being held without bail. Torres Oliveros was booked on charges including committing a felony while on bail, possession of ammunition by a felon, misdemeanor drug offenses, possession of drugs while in jail, and probation violation, with his bail set at $21,000.
