A chaotic series of violent incidents shook the small town of Apex early yesterday, culminating in a dramatic crash when a man, accused of assaulting two individuals, stole a tow truck and drove it into the front of a local business. Apex Coin & Currency, known for its collection of firearms and unique coins, sustained extensive damage as the suspect crashed the heavy vehicle into the establishment’s front façade.

According to FOX8, the Apex Police Department initially responded to an assault at the Circle K on the 700 block of East Williams Street. The suspect then quickly moved on to assault another victim at the nearby Apex Inspection Center. Amid the chaos, the suspect managed to steal a tow truck from the inspection center before being ultimately apprehended.

Adding to the string of offenses, the unidentified man, whose name is being withheld by police pending further investigation, is now facing several charges. As reported by the News & Observer, the charges include two counts of strongarm robbery and assault, one resulting in serious injury, larceny of a motor vehicle, and property damage. The Apex Fire Department confirmed that, fortunately, no one was present inside the coin shop at the time of the incident.

After the tow truck came to a halt inside Apex Coin & Currency, town officials were quick to deem the building unsafe due to the structural damage, as detailed by ABC11. Police and emergency services acted swiftly to secure the area and evaluate the consequences of the suspect's actions. As of now, Apex Coins & Currency will remain closed indefinitely until repairs can securely be made to ensure the safety of employees and patrons.
