In a Las Vegas courtroom on Monday, Isaac Laushaul Jr., 32, and Markeisha Foster, 30, appeared before a judge regarding their alleged involvement in the death of an English bulldog named Reba. Laushaul is being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center after refusing to appear in court last Sunday. A bail hearing to determine his custody status has not yet been scheduled, as stated by 8 News Now.
Markeisha Foster’s bail was set at $50,000 during a court hearing last Sunday, and she remained in jail on Monday. She and another person are charged with abusing and killing an animal. The case gained attention after a dog named Reba was found taped inside a tub near a dumpster in July, suffering in extreme heat. Despite being rescued, Reba died from heatstroke two days later. The incident has led to a petition calling for tougher animal abuse laws, which has gathered over 3,000 signatures, as reported by Las Vegas Review-Journal.
During their court appearances, the accused showed different reactions. Foster covered her face with a paper, and Laushaul looked down, avoiding the photographers. Advocates wore "Justice for Reba" T-shirts and made their presence known. "We wanted them to see our face," said Lindsey Pinapfel, a volunteer with the Las Vegas Pet Rescue Project. Patricia Reid added, "These people are lucky that Metro (police) found them before we did." The case continues, with animal rights advocates and the community watching closely, hoping for justice for Reba, as captured by Las Vegas Review-Journal.
