A New Jersey man accused in a Morrisville strip club shooting is now facing homicide charges following the death of the victim, officials said. Pedro E. Rodriguez, 28, from Trenton, N.J., had been charged with various offenses including aggravated assault and now, following the victim's passing, he faces an upgraded charge of criminal homicide, as per Bucks County government news.
Arrested on the same day as the incident, on August 29, Rodriguez has been held at Bucks County Correctional Facility. The shooting, which took place earlier that day at The Border Gentlemen’s Club located at 440 S. Pennsylvania Ave, left one man critically injured. According to a report obtained by Bucks County government news, the victim, later identified as Mekhi Norman, 28, was shot in the back of the head, left thigh, and torso.
Morrisville Police were called to the scene at about 1:14 a.m., where they discovered the wounded Norman. Rodriguez’s initial charges included two counts each of aggravated assault and simple assault, alongside one count each of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, possession of an instrument of crime, and 17 counts of recklessly endangering another person. With the victim's recent death, these charges have escalated to include homicide.
Details regarding the arraignment of the new charges have been released, with Rodriguez scheduled for court tomorrow.
