Severe storms hit southeast Texas on Thursday, with a mail truck caught on video flipping over on Plumbrook Drive in southwest Houston, likely due to tornado activity. This happened less than a day after clear skies. While Click2Houston reported no injuries, viewer footage showed tornadoes touching down in Liberty County and possibly crossing Lake Houston.
During a violent storm, Frank Gongora’s neighborhood was hit hard, with damage captured on a security camera. Gongora, who watched from inside his home, said, "I opened up the back door, and that's when I saw the big old piece of steel and patio, and a portion of my fence was knocked over." While his home was mostly spared, nearby houses suffered significant damage, including torn-off garage doors, missing roof shingles, and scattered debris. The storm’s destruction unfolded in just a few minutes, as stated by ABC13.
Gongora, a resident since 2008, has lived through hurricanes like Ike, Harvey, and Beryl, but said on Thursday's storm was different in its speed. "This one here was fast. I mean, not even a minute or two it seemed that way," he recalled. "It makes you think, like, 'What can happen tomorrow?' Tomorrow is not promised," Gongora added. The National Weather Service will assess the damage on Friday, according to ABC13.
