Two teenage victims were hospitalized following a shooting incident in Parma late Friday night, as reported by WKYC. The Parma Police Department released information stating that the shooting seemed to be unprovoked, with the two cousins, a 19-year-old and an 18-year-old, on the receiving end of gunfire that resulted in "through and through" wounds to the arm and thigh, respectively.
The suspect involved, a 23-year-old man from Cleveland, is currently in custody. Caught at the RTA Transit Center on Day Drive soon after the description was obtained from witness statements despite the victims not knowing him, the arrest came about as officers found both three 9mm bullet casings at the scene and also a loaded 9mm handgun along a path that connected to the RTA station where the suspect was detained, the FOX8 reported and the local court officials announced that the suspect's bond was set at $1 million by Judge Timothy Gilligan with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Monday morning.
The incident occurred on West Ridgewood Drive, west of Ridge Road, where the teens were confronted by the suspect, who began yelling at the victims before shooting, as stated by WOIO. While the full motives behind the shooting are still under investigation, the young men are expected to recover from their injuries.
