
Tragedy struck West Seattle last night as a 15-year-old boy was shot and later died from his injuries, prompting an intense investigation by Seattle police detectives. According to the Seattle Police Department, officers responded to the 6400 block of 30th Avenue Southwest around 10:15 p.m. after receiving calls regarding screams and the sound of gunfire in the area.
When authorities arrived, they found the young victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen and, together with Seattle Fire Department personnel they provided immediate medical aid, and the teenager was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in a serious condition, as reported by the SPD. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals at Harborview, the teen's injuries proved fatal; no suspect information has been released, and no arrests have been made at this juncture, the police found a shell casing and a firearm at the scene which has been collected for further analysis.
The Seattle Police Department cordoned off the area to preserve the scene until their Homicide and Crime Scene Unit detectives could arrive to take over, as detailed in a recent statement found on the SPD Blotter. The investigation is ongoing as detectives work to understand the circumstances that escalated into the fatal shooting.
