
Tragedy struck a Bronx street yesterday morning when a 64-year-old man was found dead in the back of an ambulette, authorities said. The NYPD is currently investigating the incident after the man was discovered with injuries that have raised suspicions about the circumstances surrounding his death. According to Gothamist, the man was found inside a Marquis Ambulette vehicle parked on a side street near Castle Hill Park around 10:30 a.m., following a 911 call.
First responders arrived on the scene to find the unidentified victim unconscious and not responsive. Despite efforts, he was pronounced dead at the site. Details regarding the injuries to the body, described as traumatic in nature, are scant, but authorities are inclined to thoroughly investigate further. A representative from the Marquis Ambulette company expressed that they are fully cooperating with police in the matter, per a statement obtained by Gothamist. As a part of the inquiry, the city's medical examiner is diligently working to determine the official cause of death.
The incident occurred at 201 Castle Hill Avenue, and despite initial efforts by emergency services, no immediate arrests have been reported in connection with the event as of yesterday evening. The NYPD, continuing their investigation, have yet to release additional details surrounding the man's death. Furthermore, the victim's identity remains withheld pending notification of next of kin.
