Stargazers and nature enthusiasts, gather your telescopes and your love for all things celestial. The Friends of O.S. Gray Natural Area teamed up with the Fort Worth Astronomical Society for their annual Star Party on February 15. As posted on the official Arlington Parks and Recreation Facebook page, stargazing will not be the only activity lighting up the night.
From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., local astronomy buffs can enjoy more than just glimpses at the cosmos. Society's experts will be on-site in the natural area, conveniently located in our urban spread, sharing their telescopes and deep knowledge about what's twinkling above us. Suppose the promise of cosmic exploration wasn't enough to get you to brave the evening chill. In that case, the event also includes the timeless pleasure of roasting hot dogs and marshmallows over an open fire and the sweet comfort of hot chocolate.
And here's the kicker: Aside from being an educational opportunity, the Star Party is a completely FREE family-friendly event. Whether you're a hardcore astronomy nerd or just looking for a unique way to spend a Saturday evening with the kids, the Star Party seems like a pretty solid bet.
