An alleged drug deal interrupted by police in Pasadena led to the arrest of a 50-year-old man from Arnold, Maryland, on weapons and drug charges. According to a police press release from the Anne Arundel County Police Department, the incident unfolded late on Monday when detectives patrolling the area near Outing Avenue and Duvall Highway observed what they suspected to be a narcotics exchange.
The suspect, Jerome Shelton Johnson, was approached as he sat in a silver 1999 Mercedes sedan, where a subsequent search allegedly revealed a .40 caliber Glock handgun loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition, roughly 85 grams of suspected cocaine, 19 strips of suspected Suboxone, and a digital scale. Johnson, who is legally barred from possessing firearms or ammunition, was subsequently taken into custody.
Charges against Johnson include weapon and drug violations, with the police department's detailed account of the arrest providing a snapshot of the day-to-day operations within the Eastern District's efforts to address the multifaceted drug trade.
