
Battle Creek Police Department reported a shooting incident in the early hours of New Year's Day, leaving a 37-year-old man injured with a gunshot wound to his upper left thigh. As detailed by WZZM 13, Officers responded to a 911 call shortly after midnight in the 100 block of Manchester Street, where they discovered the wounded man who subsequently refused treatment from them.
Despite the urgency, the man turned down the officer's medical assistance at the scene and did not provide details about the suspect, the FOX 17 News report indicated; nonetheless, initial care was provided by the Battle Creek Fire Department before hospitalization of the victim whose injuries were deemed non-life-threatening. Police are treating this as an isolated incident, believing that no imminent threat looms over the public.
