Calhoun County and surrounding areas experienced heightened emergency activities last night after a fire with a potential explosion risk broke out near East Michigan Avenue and 10 Mile Road. As reported by WZZM13, the fire originated at Katz Well Drilling in Emmett Township, leading to urgent evacuations in the vicinity.

The fire, which was contained to a single structure was addressed by responders who arrived on the scene at approximately 8:15 p.m. Calhoun County dispatchers announced road closures while firefighting efforts were underway but have since reopened East Michigan Avenue, according to WZZM13. No injuries were reported at the time firefighters cleared the scene at 1:40 a.m.

In conjunction with the fire department, six fire departments, and three police departments also responded to assist. According to social media updates by Calhoun County 911 - Michigan, evacuation orders were placed and subsequently lifted for areas such as Fifer Lane and the southern end of Hidden Forest Road. Residents were allowed to return to their homes by 11:45 p.m.
