
In an unfortunate incident in St. Petersburg, a pedestrian lost his life after being hit by two vehicles while attempting to cross a highway, local authorities confirmed. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred around 2:55 a.m., killing a 69-year-old man from Clearwater, who was walking across Ulmerton Road near the vicinity of 40th Street North, as noted by WFLA.
The pedestrian was initially struck by a Honda Odyssey, driven by a 36-year-old man from Clearwater and a Nissan Sentra driven by a 39-year-old man from Cutler Bay followed suit hitting the man shortly after the first collision, a Department of Transportation camera captured the aftermath of the crash which resulted in the blocking of the right-turn lane by two patrol vehicles in the early hours of Saturday, as described by ABC Action News.
The dual-impact collision proved fatal for the pedestrian, whose attempt to navigate the eastbound trajectory of oncoming traffic came to a tragic end; he was pronounced dead at the scene, a grim reality relayed by the Florida Highway Patrol and subsequently covered by Tampa Free Press.
